Waking up early sucks.
There is no getting around that. Anytime that the alarm goes off and the first number is a 4 or 5… that blows.
If you are anything like me, waking up early does not come natural for you.
It’s super easy to hit that snooze button and get an extra 30 minutes or an hour. Especially on the weekends.
One of the biggest reasons you should wake up early is to gain more uninterrupted time.
We all have 24 hours in the day. But when you wake up and you have 20 minutes to shower, shave, get dressed, get the kids dressed, have breakfast, and get to work – it’s hard to get any time to set yourself up for success for the day.
By getting up early, you give yourself more time to reflect and plan what you need to accomplish for the day.
And the best part is that no one is competing for your attention at 5AM. You can spend time alone in your head to strategize and develop a plan to attack the day.
Here’s a few tips to help drag your ass out of bed:
1) Don’t hit the snooze
One of the hardest things to do when your alarm goes off is avoiding hitting that orange snooze button…
Here’s what I’ve found that works to get you up and keep you up.
Go to Walmart or Amazon and buy a $10 old school bell alarm. You know, the kind that has the 2 huge ass bells on the top with a vibrating ringer in the middle.
That thing goes off and trust me, you are awake.
If that’s not your thing – then put your alarm on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off.
2) Pack up the night before
Trying to get into the habit of running or working out in the morning?
Lay out all of your shoes, gym clothes, water bottle. Already have you pre-workout in a bottle. Have your headphones and water bottle ready to go.
This makes it easier to get ready, and gives you less of an excuse to crawl back into your comfy bed.
3) Power down about 30 minutes before bed
I could get on here and say that you should get 8 hours of sleep, but who are we kidding? If you are working towards your goals, there is no way that you are getting that much sleep.
One way that you can get better rest, no matter how much or little you get, is to power down your electronics about 30 minutes before you hit the sack.
Put your phone away, turn the TV off, do some stretching and meditation. Maybe drink some sleepy time tea, I don’t know what you are into…
But bottom line is that electronics do not help you get into your sleepy zone. So shut them down and get ready for bed.

DO EPIC SH*T.
